Tansey Polocrosse Club
Polocrossse has been played at Tansey a number of times since the
game commenced. The original teams commenced play in the middle
of last century, then again in the 70s and 80s. So 2004 was the
third time in polocrosse's short history, that teams have formed
to do battle in this exciting team sport.
Tansey is located 18km north of Goomeri on the Burnett Highway.
The playing fields are bounded by picturesque Boonara Creek. Many
of the original blue gums are still in place as they would have
been on the two previous occasions that polocrosse was played here.
Tansey is a rich agricultural district with local cropping used
to feed the many cattle transported from all over the state to the
feedlots near here.
The grounds are predominantly sandy loam and now we have developed
an irrigation system to water all our fields you are assured of
a safe playing surface. The fields are located at the showgrounds,
which also has a Campdraft Arena.
The local community of Tansey is very supportive of the Polocrosse
club. We endeavour to keep improving the facilities at the grounds
so that the whole community will benefit in the long term. The success
of our first carnival in 2004 was beyond our expectations and the
profits from this event have been poured back into improvements
on the grounds.
