Mick Nolan Memorial

Mick Nolan
1921 - 1991

Mick Nolan was married to Mavis and had three children, Terry, Reg and Lyndelle. Both Reg and Terry played with the Gatton Club. Mick was very passionate about polocrosse and was heavily involved in all of the clubs he was a member of. Mick was awarded with Life Membership of the Queensland Polocrosse Association in 1980 and became Patron of the Queensland Polocrosse Association in May 1989.

Mick started playing polocrosse in 1950 and in 1959 helped start the Gatton Polocrosse Club of which he was Club President for 14 years before resigning due to a move to a farm near Warwick. During this time with the Gatton Club they were the Queensland and Australian Club Champions. Mick was awarded with Life Membership to the Gatton Polocrosse Club.

Separation into Zones within Queensland started in 1979 and with his usual enthusiasm, Mick held the position of Zone President for South East Queensland from 1980 -1983.

The Mick Nolan Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the champion polocrosse horse in South East Queensland.
