Mick Nolan
1921 - 1991
Mick
Nolan was married to Mavis and had three children, Terry, Reg and
Lyndelle. Both Reg and Terry played with the Gatton Club. Mick was very
passionate about polocrosse and was heavily involved in all of the
clubs he was a member of. Mick was awarded with Life Membership of the
Queensland Polocrosse Association in 1980 and became Patron of the
Queensland Polocrosse Association in May 1989.
Mick
started playing polocrosse in 1950 and in 1959 helped start the Gatton
Polocrosse Club of which he was Club President for 14 years before
resigning due to a move to a farm near Warwick. During this time with
the Gatton Club they were the Queensland and Australian Club Champions.
Mick was awarded with Life Membership to the Gatton Polocrosse Club.
Separation into Zones within
Queensland started in 1979 and with his
usual enthusiasm, Mick held the position of Zone President for South
East Queensland from 1980 -1983.
The
Mick Nolan Memorial Trophy is awarded annually to the champion
polocrosse horse in South East Queensland.
